Sewing School Weekender: Intro to Pattern Drafting 7th and 8th September


In this two day intensive workshop you will learn the basic principles of pattern drafting. You will create a bodice block using your own measurements, learn how to use the block to create a pattern and begin creating a garment from scratch. The itinerary is as follows:

Day 1- Saturday 7th September:

10am -11.30: Take measurements and begin drafting your bodice block

11.30-11.45: Tea Break

11.45-1.30: Complete your bodice block

1.30-2.15: Lunch

2.15- 3.30: Cut block in calico and try on

3.30-3.45: Tea Break

3.45-6: Design your own garment and alter block to produce a sewing pattern

Day 2- Sunday 8th September:

!0am- 11.30: Finish making your sewing pattern and choose fabric.

11.30-11.45: Tea break

11.45-1.30: Cutting out

1.30- 2.15: Lunch

2.15-3.30: Garment construction

3.30-3.45: Tea Break

3.45-6: Garment Construction

The cost of the class includes 2.5 metres of fabric per person plus all other materials. You will be able to take your block and sewing pattern home as well as any other work you produce. Depending on the complexity of the garment you design, it may not be completed within the allotted time. Lunch, snacks and tea/coffee will be provided. If you have any dietary requirements then please notify us via email at at least 48 hours before the first workshop. If anyone wants to bring their own fabric or food with them then they are more than welcome too!
